Sons of the Monks: The Children left Behind

While traveling around North Vietnam in February 2015 I had the chance to visit a couple of Buddhist orphanages in the outskirts of Hanoi. Here children with disabilities or mental problems are left by their parents who can not take care of them. This is a common practice in Vietnam and other countries in South East Asia. The monks and nuns welcome, take care and raise these children in the best way they can… they try to give them an education too, even if the conditions are quite hard and economically very difficult.
