Sons of the Monks: The Children left Behind

Back in February 2015, I had the opportunity to explore the Northern parts of Vietnam and visited a few Buddhist orphanages in the suburbs of Hanoi. In these facilities kids with physical or mental impairments were abandoned by their parents who were not able to take care of them. This is a common custom in Vietnam and other countries of South East Asia. The monks and nuns receive these children with open arms and give them a home, while attempting to provide them with a proper schooling even though the conditions are very hard and the financial circumstances really tough.
